Welcome to Africa's friendliest country. This website is
dedicated to the finest forms of TOURISM in TANZANIA.
These pages have been designed with all kind of
travellers in mind, and specially for those looking to
find out more about Tanzania, the land of Kilimanjaro
and Zanzibar, Tanzania is a land of many wonders with an
un-paralleled diversity. Kilimanjaro, the highest
permanently snow-capped free standing mountain in
Africa, the exotic Islands of Zanzibar, the finest game
sanctuaries of Serengeti, Tarangire, Lake Manyara,
Ngorongoro Crater, Ruaha, Selous and the Marine Park of
Mafia Island are only but a few of the living examples
in our itineraries.Tanzania has emerged as a destination
in its own right. Tanzania is to the wildlife enthusiast
the Africa of our imagination. Boasting over 95,000
square miles of game reserves, From Mt. Kilimanjaro, the
highest mountain in Africa, to Lake Victoria, the
largest lake in Africa, you find a country with vast,
unbroken vistas. East Africa has also been called the
cradle of mankind. There is a great physical drama to
Africa. A drama of gigantic scale and magnificent,
almost unbearably beautiful landscapes. The beauty of
Tanzania can simply take one's breath away. The reds and
greens of the landscape seem to pulsate in the bright
African sun.
There are few villages, few farms and no pavement in the
wilderness, just miles and miles of great open spaces
beneath an infinite and weightless African sky, hills
and escarpments with golden savannas that roll out to
meet them, and the towering mass of Kilimanjaro humped
under a great burden of snow, shimmering in the heat
like a mirage between illusion and reality.

In Tanzania the visitor has so much to see and
experience that it is taking several visits to get a
thorough view. We have several world famous game
reserves like Serengeti, N'gorongoro, Selous, and Ruaha
to explore, Marvelous Indian Ocean Islands and reefs
with deep history to wonder, Zanzibar and Mafia to name.
You can climb to Mount Kilimanjaro, go hunting or deep
sea fishing. If not enough you search the great lake
sides of Lake Victoria and Tanganyika or you simply
enter the full wilderness and get lost.
History
Tanzania is "the cradle of mankind" for it was here in
the Olduvai Gorge that Dr.Louis Leakey
discovered the fossilised remains of Homo habilis , or
"handy man" calculated to be 1.75 million year old and
the fore runner of the modern man.
The Rulers
The Portuguese established temporary settlements in the
16th century, supplanted by the Omanis in the late 17th
century whose developed the infamous slave trade.
The scramble for Africa by the Europeans powers at the
end of the 19th century led to the occupation of the
mainland by Germany although Zanzibar became a British
protectorate. After World War I, Germany was forced to
surrender its territorry to the British.
Tanganyika, as the Mainland was then known, achieved
independence in 1961. Zanzibar became independent two
years later and shortly afterwards joined with the
mainland to became the United Republic of Tanzania.
Slavery
There
had been influences on the local population as far back as 2,000
years ago when Arab/Persian merchants visited some parts of
the country along the coastline. During the 8th century settlements
by Arab merchants were established in Zanzibar, Kilwa Masoko,
Mikindani and Pangani.
The Portugese established temporary settlements along
some area in the 16th century and were supplanted by the
Omans.(in the late 17th century)who developed the slave
trade and made Zanzibar their capital.
The first Europeans to arrive were explorers and
missionarries in the mid-19th century and the news of
East Africa subsequently attracted colonial ambition.
Politics
Tanzania is a multi-party democratic country with its
administration based on President,Parliament and
Judiciary. Elections are held each 5 years and elected
President can hold office for ten years only. Tanzania
is a member of East African Community, SADC, African
Union, World Tourism Organisation, United
Nations and Commonwealth.
